Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, D.J. ( Diane Juris) Bykowski moved to Phoenix in 1984. Diane, a retired educator, now finds herself with not one but two careers – art and volunteering with her therapy dogs, Zoe and Mia. She describes her art as “a reflection of me – from the whimsical side of my personality to the sedate side where reality and dreams merge and come alive." Diane’s versatility is apparent in her contemporary abstracts and traditional, and almost nostalgic, rendering of a myriad of subjects with her specialty being pet portraits. Juried status in the Arizona Artists Guild, Arizona Watercolor Association, Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona and the Arizona Art Alliance has brought her much recognition and numerous awards.
